Instagram has no save button for someone else's Reel. The usual workaround is a screen recording, which captures the interface, any notification banners, and a lower-quality version of the video. It also fills your camera roll with clips you have to trim.
OneInsta reads the public post and returns the original file instead. Paste a link, pick the media, and save it. No account, no install, and nothing stored on our side.
Paste an Instagram link
Reels, feed videos, photos and carousels from public accounts.
Open the Instagram downloader →The short version
- Copy the link. Open the Reel or post, tap the ••• menu, then Copy link.
- Paste it into OneInsta. Open the OneInsta web tool and drop the link in the box.
- Save the file. Hit Get media, then download the video or photos to your device.
The rest of this guide covers each device, carousels, and what to do when a link does not work.
On iPhone and iPad
- Open the Reel or post and tap the ••• menu.
- Choose Copy link.
- Open the OneInsta tool in Safari and paste the link.
- Tap Get media, then download the video.
- Safari saves it to the Files app under Downloads. Open the file and tap Share → Save to Photos to add it to your camera roll.
If you save Reels often, the free OneInsta app for iPhone downloads straight to Photos, so there is no trip through Files.
On Android
- In Instagram, tap •••, then Copy link.
- Open Chrome and go to the OneInsta tool.
- Paste the link and tap Get media.
- Download the file. It lands in Downloads, and most gallery apps show it automatically.
On Mac or Windows
Open OneInsta in any browser, paste the link and download. The file goes to your Downloads folder, ready for editing or archiving. Nothing is installed, so it also works on a computer you do not own.
Carousels and photo posts
A carousel is several photos and videos in one post. Paste the link and OneInsta returns each item separately, at the resolution Instagram publishes. Use Download all to save the whole set without clicking through them one at a time.
Why not just screen record?
- Quality. A recording is re-encoded and usually softer than the original upload.
- Clean frame. No like counts, captions, or notification banners in the middle of the video.
- No trimming. The file starts and ends where the Reel does.
Why a link might fail
- Private or deleted posts. They cannot be read without an account, so they are not supported.
- Age-restricted posts. Instagram may refuse to serve them to a logged-out request.
- Profile links. A profile is not a single post. Open the Reel first, then copy its link.
- Stories. They need a logged-in session and are not supported.
- Rate limits. Instagram occasionally slows down server requests. Wait a minute and try again.
Is this allowed?
Saving your own posts, or posts you have permission to use, is fine. Re-uploading someone else's Reel without credit or permission is not. Keep the creator's handle when you share, and follow Instagram's terms.
